In order to avoid functional disturbances of conventional flasher relays when using LED indicators, a resistor is connected in front of the flasher. The resistor "consumes" the energy that an incandescent lamp blinker would require and thus compensates for the low power consumption of the LED turn signal which allows the relay to recognize the blinker as a consumer at all. Otherwise, the relay behaves as if the incandescent lamp is defective, i. E. it increases the clock frequency, or it does not speak at all.
